thalia & jay celebrating 10 years

the tea chic ladies gathered to celebrate one of our member’s love! 10 years married! what a wonderful night we spent together.  blue and silver decorations adorned the yard with the bistro lights to shine.  the weather was cool and breezy as we laughed and gathered together to celebrate this beautiful couple.  although thalia was nervous to prepare the appetizers with me, we made stuffed mushrooms, ham dip, cucumbers with dill sauce, and crostini with brie, honey, and cranberries.  the paella was a hit with the crowd and i don’t think anyone was spared a second trip to the pan! the cupcakes and chocolate cake were all gone by the end of the night and the sugar rush was what fuel the karaoke and dancing after the mariachis serenaded us all.  what a beautiful celebration to commemorate the 10 years thalia and jay have been married!

jovanka and brandon

since 1913, sisters of phi sigma sigma have been celebrating sisterhood throughout our country.  this day, a sister lends a hand to another on the most magical day that two join to become one. tucked away in the heart of Miami, lies a historic mansion that was the setting to this gorgeous union.   jo and brandon joined at a chuppah adorned with white flowers along side a peaceful lake.  guests then followed the path to the cocktail hour, greeted with the sweetest memorial to those who could not be with us that day.  petal productions adorned the rustic tables and old swing set to make an elegant, yet casual atmosphere to host the guests as the feasted on pepe luzarraga’s paella and arroz campesino.  the cutest guest at the wedding, jacob, the couple’s son, was the boy who had the most fun.  he got wheeled around in a wheelbarrow and got to dance the night away with his gorgeous mom!  the sparklers at the end of the night was just the right touch to send off the happy couple to enjoy and honeymoon and years of bliss as the begin this adventure together as a married couple. couldn’t love you more, jo and brandon!

prost!

all you need for the perfect oktoberfest at home is a few brats and a few brews.  what a feast of german potato salad, cucumber salad, red cabbage, beer mac & cheese, and a variety of brats!  homemade white and blue checkered runners and a few steins with bouquets were quick and easy decorations to go along with the oktoberfest sign that hung in the window.  the night was made magical with costantino and ana with their karaoke machine.  they brought out the unknown talent of everyone who dared to grab the microphone.  truly a gathering to be repeated yearly!!!

awaiting stefano

oh, baby!  10 tiny fingers and 10 tiny toes…. we’re waiting for stefano as everyone knows!  what a fun group of girls gathering to shower adri before her precious baby boy arrives!  adri, dressed in the most beautiful, white, flowing dress, walked into a baby wonderland that sunny saturday morning with her mom and mother in law.  we adorned the house with the sweetest little baby clothes and socks.  a tulle clothesline with turquise, gray, and white baby clothes and tiny socks hung in the window.  branches with teeny tiny socks greeted the guests at the front of the house.  a handmade sign with a teal tulle string  saying “oh, baby”  marked the entrance to the dining room.  we set out crates that housed milk bottles to sip mimoas, coffe punch, and lemon -infused water.  guests wrote their names on little handmade tags since after a few mimosas, it’s hard to find your bottle!  all of these little treats were set on handmade, teal chevron runners.  a spread of egg, sausage, and cheese casserole, a french toast casserole, a watermelon baby carriage, a bagel bar with lox & cream cheese, and chicken salad sandwiches left the girls wanting to roll out of the party.  and then came the desserts!!! joyce, the paternal grandmother, brought alfajores and suspiros.  yumm! the homemade cupcakes with gray frosting and strawberry cake pops were a special treat! nothing was left on the sweets table when i turned around!  the sugar rush was just the right push for the games.  3 girls had to race to a baby bottle with a quarter between their knees.  they all got a fantastic leg workout while the rest of us worked out our abs with all the laughter.  next, 2 blindfolded friends had to find a way to lift weightless cotton balls into a bowl with a plastic spoon. too bad they found a way to cheat the system by using their thumbs to hold the cotton!!! the one with the least amount of cotton spilled won the game!  the photo booth was so adorable.  all the ladies took turns standing against the gray backdrop with all kinds of sweet baby boy props and phrases.  as the girls left, they took with them a popcorn baggie with handmade tags that said “ready to pop” and tiny mason jars with kisses with custom made tags.  such a special day to help adri gather goodies for stefano!

oktoberfest in wynwood

after celebrating oktoberfest in germany, it was time to see what south florida had to offer in terms of a beer, brats, and bands.  wynwood had a nice gathering of all.  there was a german band that played for a while as the dancing got worse throughout the night.  no shortage of people watching at that party!  we feasted on brats and enjoyed several steins of sam adams. the photo booth was our favorite activity there!  although none of us attempted to use the clothes… eewww!

zoey’s 2nd birthday

baby turns 2, what should we do? celebrate the beautiful miami sun and have a splash party! kiara and i set out to decorate the yard and prepare for a group of rowdy toddlers ready to splash and bounce the day away! it was so fun to get the luau prepared as norma cooked away and jose put the finishing touches in the play area. as i hung the backdrop for the cake table, kiara peeks her head out of the door with a horrified look in her eyes and says, “i need help!” i could not stop laughing at the situation, definitely not at kiara! her attempts were genuine, but when sweets are not your thing…. i quickly ran across the street, whipped up a batch of my buttercream frosting, and saved the cupcakes. we had such a great time with all the kids dancing, splashing, and jumping. the tropical feast of roast pork, moros, and plaintains was gone before everyone even had time to sit with their plates. it was a wonderful time to celebrate with family and friends. what a joy to have such a great neighbor with the most adorable baby girl! we love you, zoey!

vanessa & german

planning for an intimate family wedding can be very exciting! you have to think of everything, from the tent, tables, chairs, napkins, silverware, etc… when at a venue, you choose everything from a list. in this situation, you have to remember every last detail, and we did! we executed a perfect celebration for the couple. we spent weeks preparing the yard and making homemade decorations. we hung wine bottles and lights in the garden ceremony site. a delicious paella was cooking under the tent as the guests munched on coconut shrimp, yuca fries, and some fun dips we prepared. the family gathered to dance to the beats of our friend, ralph, as the lights flashed. the most special part of the music was the family band that played for the guests at the end of the night. after midnight jammed as we all sang along. the many children running around and dancing had more fun than anyone there! it was a gorgeous night and my sister in law could not have been more beautiful! we were so happy to join vanessa and german for their happily ever after!
